to the force necessary to be stationed at Stanley.
I have Je,
(Signed) I. G. Boukane
True Copy. Colonial Secretary
Hongkong, 21 July, 1844
I have had the honor to receive
your Excellency's Letter of the 21 Instant, with a Despatch in original from Earl Grey and two enclosures from the office of Ordnance addressed to the Colonial Office
As it appeared to
me that there
were some mistakes in the enclosures, the damage done to the Barracks at Stanley having been confounded with the destruction occasioned by the Typhoon of last year
to
buildings on Artillery Hill at Victoria, I referred the correspondence to the Commanding Royal Engineer for explanation which I ... herewith enclose. The only buildings proposed to be kept up at Stanley
