PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by certain additional Instructions conveyed to the Governor of this Colony, under date the 2d day of March 1849, Her Majesty's Government has been pleased to direct, that, until further orders, all White Convicts sentenced by Courts Martial at Hongkong to Transportation, under the Provisions of the Mutiny Act, Section XXIV, be removed to the Cape of Good Hope or to Van Diemen's Land, according to the convenience of Passages which may be afforded from time to time, there to be dealt with according to the other Provisions of the aforesaid Act: Now, therefore, I, Samuel George Bonham, Esquire, Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the Colony of Hongkong and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same, Her Majesty's Plenipotentiary and Chief Superintendent of the Trade of British Subjects in China, in pursuance of the said Instructions, as such Governor, do appoint, That until further orders, all White Convicts sentenced in this Colony in manner above-mentioned by Courts Martial, shall be sent to the Cape of Good Hope or to Van Diemen's Land, according to the convenience of Passages which may be afforded from time to time, there to be dealt with according to the other Provisions of the said Mutiny Act.
