29 22nd. Forwarding copy of Comparative statements of Estimated and actual Revenue and Expenditure of Hongkong, for the year ended 31st Decr. 1848.

30 25th. Reporting departure of Lt. Coll. W. J. Smythe, R.E., to China proper for purpose of examining the localities and preparing plans for the fortifications proposed there to be built.

Acknowledging receipt of His Lordship's Despatch No.83 of the 18th December.

31 24th. Acknowledging receipt of Despatch of 1848, calling for a Report on the Expenditure of the Colony Civil, Military, and Naval, in all its branches, and deferring his reply thereto until the settlement of the question relative to the entry into the city of Canton.

32 24th. Act: Transmitting copy of Ordinance No. 2 of 1849, entitled "An Ordinance to amend certain Ordinances" and reporting.
