SHIPPING NOTES,
The number of ships, over 1,000 ton gross, Iaunched in Japan during the first six
months this year was representing
283,750 tons. Those building are 40, "aggre. gating: 185,800 tons. Those planned, and not yet under construction, number 74,.re presenting 32.839 tons. The ships launch ed during July were only 5, aggregating 24,940 tons about one-half of the figures during the war boom. Ships not yet-under construction are chiefly stock-boats, and their construction may be largely cancelled. In the circumstances, ships to be launched during the last ball of this year may be from 160 to 100 thousand tons only, says Japanese paper
