which foundered in Sumatran waters on the night of the 11th inst

that at about 8.40 p.m. the steamer left Sabang for Penang with a crew of 34 and a pawengers. About 30 miles from shore the tail end shaft of the propeller bmke and water immediately rushed in, Nothing could be done and within 25 minutes the vessel sank. Some of the crew took to the Lifeboats while the others jumped into the sex with anything they could lay their hands upon. The engineer, Mr. B. Creigton: waL in the water for some before be was picked mp

The others were nowhere to be seen After drifting till the next morning the crew, including the captain, engineer and gunner, were picked up by the oil steamer Meteor and taken to Babang. They were very well treated by the feteora officers. and the Sabang port authorities. The mis sing included 11 deck hands. None of the passengers were saved.
