STILL RISING. INCREASE OF 47 MILLIONS ON
APRIL, 1919.
The chief fenture, of the Board of Trade Returns for the month of April was the big increase in exports compared with a year ago.
Imports were valued at $187.154,309, compared with £112,065,693 in the corres ponding month of last year, an increase of £58,088,188.
The expor for the month reached £106,251,602, an increase on April last year of £47,760,250.
Three-5fths of the increase in importa fell under the head of raw materials and manufactured, which articies mainly phoved an advance of £31.691,093.
As in previous months, the largest in- crease was in raw cotton 'and cotton waste,
