AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE ORDINANCE No. 7 OF 1845, ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE FOR THE REGULATION OF JURORS AND JURIES."
[7th June, 1849.] WHEREAS under the present Provisions of the said Ordinance No. 7 of 1845, considerable Difficulty has been experienced in supplying an adequate Panel of Common Jurors within the Colony:

I. Be it therefore enacted and ordained by His Excellency the Governor of Hongkong, with the Advice of the Legislative Council thereof, That every Male Person who shall be in the Receipt of an Annual Salary, or Income of not less than Five Hundred Dollars per Annum within the said Colony of Hongkong, and who shall reside within the same, shall be qualified and liable to serve as a Common Juror therein; and that the Provision of the Second Section of the said Ordinance No. 7 of 1845, requiring such Income or Salary to be of the full Annual Amount of One Thousand Dollars, be, and the same is hereby repealed, so far as respects the Amount of Qualification exceeding the said Annual Sum of Five Hundred Dollars. But it is hereby declared and provided, that nothing herein contained shall render any Person liable to serve as a Juror who can claim Exemption or may not be so liable under the said Second Section of the said Ordinance No. 7 of 1845.
