A message was received from Sir Edward Carson wishing the deputation "God-speed, a successful mission, and a safe return." Sir James Johnston far- Lord Mayor), on behalf of the Corpora tion, also wished the deputation success. as did the Bishop of Down, on behalf of the Church of Ireland. A large crowd of friends gathered on the railway platform, and before the departure of the train Leang. God save the King" and "God be with you till we meet again. the train passed out of the station one of the deputation repeated Ulster's historic watchword "No surrendered
The decision to send the deputation has been warmly welcomed by Loyalists, many of whom have expressed the opinion that it should have gone months ago. To Judge from the reports of speeches de livered by DeValera and others, there is urgent need of the deputation. One of the statements credited to the so-called President of the so-called Irish-Republic is that Frotestant as well as Catholic Ireland is in favour of the Irish Re public." Of course, the exact opposite is the case. I do not think there is to be found in Ireland to day. certainly not in Ulster, a single Protestant supporter of the rebel ideal.
