These Cordy grounds were

finished in August

1848 and Cost £bl 1247 each they have never

been used for the purpose for which they were intended, and consequently are useless to

the Government. It is not likely any

other

person would purchase them, and if offered at auction, they would not produce one tenth their original cost. I therefore think M.Duddell's offer a very fair one and

as he proposes to rent the Land, Her Majesty's Government would derive advantage by the

proposed sale - although in the first instance the loss would be upwards of £30-

Mr Buddel does not state definitely how much land he requires, and therefore I cannot say what would be the annual ground rent but I should think the sum would be about £10 for that near the Lock House and £15 for the other...
