My Lord,

RECVED

C.D.

JULY 20

1849

Victorian, Houghong,

10th May, 1849-

I have the honor to inform your Lordship, that in consequence of the object for

which the 2 Coolie Stands in Victoria were erected having totally failed, inasmuch

as they have been occupied by the Coolies on Porters; I availed myself of an offer of £90 for them from Mr Buddell, by

which means Government, though losing £33.5.2 in the Buildings, will in future derive a ground Rent £18.9.9 per annum, as detailed in the accompanying Enclosure...

This arrangement will cover all outlay for repairs, and will, I trust prove satisfactory to your

The Right Honorable, The Earl Grey

to.

Lordship.
