I have the honor to acquaint your Lordship that at the last Criminal Sessions
of the Supreme Court, held on the 16th April,
"HON A-TEUN" a Chinese, was convicted
of Burglary and stabbing, and sentence
of Death recorded against him.
On the 3rd Instant I summoned
the Executive Council, and requested the
Chief Justice to attend the meeting, for
the purpose of taking into consideration the
case of the above convict. It appearing from the evidence, that his Crime, although of a
serious nature, was one that was entitled to mercy,
there was no premeditated intention of committing
