ASSAULTING A THIRD MATE

A SINGAPORE INCIDENT.

the raid made on a money-changer's, shopCapt. Basil Taylour, RN, W-Reynolds, At the Marine Court, yesterday, before -on Wednesday evening by armed men in a motor-car. It now appears that the rob- -bars went to the Star Garage and engaged

the car, paying for its hire.

The master of the Sang Hong Kee money-changer's shop, No. 40, Des Vœux; Bond West, reports that at 1.45 p.m., on November 28th., whilst he and 4 of his employées were in the shop, four men entered the pramisen. One of them went into the accountant's room and pointed revolver at him, while the rest painted revolvers at himself and his jobis. The man in the accountant's room ransacked the drawers and stole $8,700 in bank notes, consisting of about $2,000 in Indo China currency and the rest in Hongkong currency." The robbers stayed in the shop for five minutes and then left it going

in

westerly direction.

Three of the rabbers were, later, traced by the rolice to the Ting Yau tea-house, Citebick Street. One was arrested after being shot at by a Chinese detective, who was alaselt shot in the elbow. Two otpors wel rested above Jubilee Street One of these was also injured.
