Sir,

Brigade Major's Office, Victoria, 11th April, 1849.

I am instructed by the Honorable the Major-General Commanding to transmit to you the accompanying enclosures, and to request that they may be laid before His Excellency the Governor.

The demand made by the local Government of a fee for the interment of an Officer in Her Majesty's Service is unusual; the Major General therefore trusts that the appeal against its payment will meet with the favorable decision of His Excellency.

The Honorable

The Colonial Secretary,

Victoria.
