1 might be erected over the graves. This question was brought by me before the Executive Council, when it was agreed that pending reference to Your Lordship, the fee of 15 Dollars hitherto levied for the graves should not be demanded from the Estates of Military & Naval Officers dying in Colony; but as I am aware that the second fee for a Monuments is also objected to, I enclose for Your Lordship's information Copy of a letter that I caused to be written in reply to a remonstrance, that was made by the Executor of the late Lieutenant Colonel Thornton against the claim of this description.
