Governor decided no repairs be executed on account of 1 of 8221, 11, 14, 18. The Police station at the was severely damaged; part of the East wall and upper part of blown down, the North wall at the rear nearly destroyed, the whole of tiles completely stripped off the Roof, all the windows and venetians on the North and East sides broken to pieces, and in fact the whole building was in a state of complete wreck; the inmates were obliged to abandon it during the storm, and as the site has generally been considered inconvenient for a Police station for the present requirements of the Town, the repairs were disallowed and arrangements made for locating the Police office elsewhere for the future; most of the doors, windows, and venetians were removed and placed in store.
