£. 1,344.15.5, and a difference against 1848 of £2,476.13.6 between the amounts of arrears and current rents during the two years 1847 and 1848.

The decrease in 1848 was £1,888.17.0 in the arrears, and the increase was £1,344.15.5 being £1,412.3.6 in the current rent collected; for the half year ending on the 25th December, and between that day and the 31st, a sum was received, which, if such early payment had not been tendered, would have been received in 1849.

The decrease is accounted for: — by the transfer of the Albany Buildings from the Civil to the Military Department; by decrease in the receipts from the Opium Farm; by changes in lieu of a strict monopoly, the former being in force during the whole of 1848; — by the Spirit Farm expiring on the 30th November, being for uncertain periods.

Brought forward £182,168.11

There is a credit of one and two months respectively under these heads, instead of 12 months during 1847, which will however be regained in the present year.

The Fees of Offices, Fees of Courts, Fines and Forfeitures of Courts, received in 1847 £680.5.10; in 1848 £458.19.15. A Decrease of £680.5.10 in several items of Revenue has also taken place, as shown in the Comparative Statement, forming together with the sums above enumerated, a total of £6,803.14.4.

£6,803.14.4 Less £797.0.7 = £6,006.13.8, an increase of £1,316.0.10; Nett Decrease for 1848 £6,006.13.8.

But as the year 1848 exhibits other items, which should be deducted therefrom, the nett decrease for 1848 is only £6,016.18.8.

Licences for Pawnbrokers and Auctioneers having been carried forward to this year exhibited £4620.15.7.

The Expenditure for 1847 amounted to £50,959, whereas the last year was £62,308, making an increase of £11,349.
