THE EVILS OF BOLSHEVISM.
BRITISH-RUSSIAN CLUB.
the
The Earl of Denbigh presided over a largely attended dinner, beld in Connaught Rooms, under the auspices of the British-Russian Club, to welcome a Russian delegation, which had come to Great Britain to explain the meaning and import of Bolshevism,
Matters in Russia, Lord Denbigh remarked, bad gone from bad to worse until the world was confronted with a condition of things which could only be described as a direct threat to arodean civilisation. (Hear, hear.) In Great Britain, unfortunately, too few people bad the smallest appreciation of the real state of affairs, or the smallest idea of what Bolshevism meant. Bolshevisin was threatening in every civilised country; it was the very negation of liberty. It could only be described as a sample of the mast abominable terangy that ever was inflict ed upon mankind They should not let the poison, which had grown up in Rus sia, gradually creep over Europe until it engulfed the whole of civilisation. ((bears.)
Mr. Gourko said Russia not only gave all she had to the Allied use, but even persisted in wishing to du su when she was completely exhausted and had no more forces left. Russia obliged Ger many to keep her troops on the Russian front till October, 1917. The fact was that
did not conquer Russia on the battlefield. Russian fought to the inst and it was only when the Russian ruling power was overthrown, by German sun- ning and treachery, that Russia came out of the war. But Russia never surren dered to Germany. (Hear, hear:) so to Bolshevism, he would not try to describe the horrors of that They were generally well known. Tho Russian people were rather n sation, often thinking not before, hat after, doing something. (Hear, hear.

His suggestion was that the Labour party should be appealed to Then both the Government and the Army would have a backing.
