Sir Paul Chater, having explained the purposes for which the Committee had been formed by the Government, proposed the appointment of the following four sub committees, with power to add to their number:-

MR. G. ALABASTER ELECTED.
Mr. C.. Alabaster, O.B.E., barrister. at-law, was elected as the representative "FOND OF THE WORLD OF FLOWER
of the Justices of the Peace on the Legisla tive Conncil in succession to the Hon. Mr. H. E. Pollock, K.O., by a majority of 17 rotes over his opponent, Mr. H. W. Bird. Mr. Bird was returned to the Council recently for two months. during the temporary absence of Mr. Pollock, over Mr. by a majority of four votes
That A. R. Lowe, who polled 40 votes. increased interest was shown in yestor day's election was proved by the fact that, whereas only 84 voted in the Lowe Bird election, 93 polled yesterday out of a total electorate of 127. A nunder of Justices were absent from the Colony.
Mr. J. R. Wood acted as Returning Officer, and was assisted by Mr. G. A. Woodcock. The voting took place at the Polling began at 4 Supreme Court. p.m., and was centinued until 5.30 p.m. Mr. A. G.
