England his departure and his
arrival in Hong Kong.

I beg to acknowledge your
letter of yesterday's date, enclosing extract of Despatch N°271. from The Right Honble: The Earl
Grey, to His Excellency Governor Bonham, and making the
request that I would refund into the Colonial Treasury the sum
of £42.2.3.4. (Forty-two Pounds, two Shillings and Nine pence;) being part of salary paid to me, whilst filling the office of Clerk of Works
and Civil Engineer in
the department of the Surveyor General.
