"CHRISTIAN” UNITY.”
THE NEED OF THE CHURCH TO-DAY.
The Rev. V. H. Copley Moyle, preach ed the following interesting sermon at St. John's Cathedral on Sunday morn- ing from the text That they may all be one that the" world may believe that Thou didst send me (St John c.17 v.21):-
We have reached the last Sunday in the Christian year, and our Church prays that our wills may be stirred up, and surely they have been stirred up in the last four years.

THE HONGKONG DAILY PRRES. TUESDAY, NOVEMBEK 201H, 1918,
Among the many lessons that the war has taught us none is more striking than the value of unity. As long as the Allies. were wanting in unity Germany' -'was victorious. She could turn upon her enemies one at a time. But unity of action brought victory.
So if the world is to be won for Christ, we must have christian whity. And in order to make christian unity possible we must be prepared to give up some of the things which wo value. Even things | which have been a real help to us in the past must be readily sacrificed if thes are not essential and if their retention is a bar to christian unity. There is

We have felt the war very much less here than it has been felt at home, but we know that oven here we have been. stirred,
Our hearts are still full of thankful- ness for the sudden end of the fighting It was only some four or five months go that leading men in our Empire were warning as to brace ourselves for a prolonged struggle, and there was talk of the enemy cccupying the channel ports, But, thank God, the end came sooner than was expected and the world bid not to endure a prolongation of the

In the world politics of the future the principles of Christ must rule. And if they are to rule it will require great efforts on the part of all who hold those principles. Bighteousness and justice must be the keynote of all international dealings. The selfish nation is no more desirable than the selfish individual. It was one of the results of the Napoleonic wars of 100 years ago that a new spirit of nationalism sprang up amongst the nations. Now that national-liberty has
been secured by the victory of the Allies. we may look to a new spirit of internas tionalism working for the benefit of all humanity. -
