ANTISEPTIC AND
The collapse of Bulgaria, Turkey, and Austria-Hungary in rapid succession proclaimed that the end was near, but there is no doubt that the surrender of Germany was hostoned by the spirit of revolt manifested among the German people. For more than half a century thay have been inebriated with the glorious achievements of their Army and have been taught to repose implicit confidence in their military leaders. Whilst they could be regaled with stories of continued victory this training helped them to bear the hardships occasioned by the blockade, but when the blows struck by Marshal Foch began to shatter their idol they had no reserve of moral strength to support them. The idea that, although forsaken by their allies, they would fight to the last man to guard the inviolability of their native land has proved fallacious. They have lost their belief in the "justice of might" and are ready to turn and rend their falsu prophets.

MYSTERIOUS MURDER OF A CHINESE.
THREE MEN ARRESTED,
A mysterious murder, in which a Chinese was strangled to death, was re- ported to the Police on Sunday night..
It is stated that the Wanchai Police received information of the crime, and visited the first floor of No. 3, Penning- ton Street, where the body was found. No motive is assigned for the murder at present, but it is believed that it was committed in consequence of a quarrel which ensued over an opinion transue tion. Three men have been arrested on suspicion.
