F. DEALY KILLED IN
ACTION.
Deep regret will be felt at the news that Lieut. Frank Dealy, only surviving. son of Mr. T. K. Dealy, who recently retired from the Headmastership. of Queen's College, was killed in action on August 28th. The late Lieut. Dealy was born in West Terrace, Hongkong, on May 6th, 1895, and was therefore only
Meanwhile, it is satisfactory to learn that the Government realise the developments that will be required when Kowloon becomes one of the termini of a great Continental railway, and that, as soon as the preoccupations of the war permit, they will prepare the necessary plans. It is to be regretted, however, that they have failed so far to induce LIEUT. the Chinese authorities to discharge the obligation, which rests upon them to com- plete the line from Canton to Hankow, or even to construct, the short link that is required to connect the Kowloon Canton Railway with the Kwantung line. As a consequence of the failure to carry out either of these projects, the Kowloon Canton Railway has been deprived of a vast amount of freight traffic upon which its promoters confidently counted, and the working of the British section up to date has resulted in a loss of two and a half million dollars.
The Kowloon Canton line has now been open for seven years, and the disturbed state of the neighbouring province during the past two seems hardly a suficient reason for all the delay that has occurred in effect MARRIAGES. .... ....
