RUSSIAN HATRED OF GERMANY.
Scenes of the most stirring character took place in the Pan-Soviet Congress at Moscow, which opened on July 3rd.
The news, which was suppressed by the Bolshevik and German censorships, ha been brought here by the Swedish boat from Petrograd, which had on board Russian newspapers giving detailed accounts of a dramatic meeting of the Congress (writes the Stockholm Corres pondent of the Daily Expresa).
A. Alexandroff, who greeted the Con- gress in the name of the Soviet of krianian Peasants. spoke of the Bol- shevik Government, which tolerates the presence of the representative of German imperialism. Mirbuch. within its capital."

Two hundred and fifty delegates of the Left here rose and cheered wildly, while Count 3lirbach and his suite, occupying a box, aut stiffly in their seats.
"Imprisonments and executions with- out trial are
the rule in the Ukraine, continued ME. Alexandrof. "These measures are used by Germans in order to suppress the revolt of the Uk- rainian workmen and peasants, but we know how to fight even if you don't, and we shall continue the fight.
The Germans have come to the Ukraine to obtain bread. They won't get it. Peasants are refusing to sur- render bread, and wherever the Ger mans succoed in loading trains, we are blowing them up. We have blown up all the artillery magazines in the Ukraine. The Germans sought to transfer immense quantities of aviation machinery from, Odessa and Nikolaie to Krupps. Wo blew it up.
1,000 GERMAN DEAD,
The Germans will be wiped out in the Ukraine. They have already paid a thousand live for their tyranny. 1 desire to inform you, in the name of the workmen and pensants of the Ukraine, than the whole of the Ukraine is now in axta of revolt against the Austro- Germany ke You have concluded the Brest-Litovsk peace at the price of the. Ukraine's liberty. I now call on you to aid us in our fight."
Here the delegates of the Leit, "tim Right, and the Minimalists rose. crying,
Down with the Brest pence."
We firmly believe you will come to our aid, continued M. Alexandro
You will not deny us arms and will not wait mi! Count Mirbach, permits you to do so."
At this point Count Mirbach stowed signs of excitement. He turned to a German officer near him and whispered i something. The Left delegatos, again rising, shouted: "Down with Mirbuch!"* Down with the Brest peace! Down with the lackays of Mirbach, the Bolshe The chairman, M. Sverdloff, vika"! succeeded in restoring order with great dificulty.
3. Trotsky rose to announce that the Government will oppose the efforts of certain Red Guard regiments in under- taking an offensive against the Germans on the Kursk front without "orders" from Moscow. He also defended the official

reintroduction of the "death penalty. The Left delegates shouted demands for the repeal of the death penalty, and their leader, 31. Kainkoff, rose and shout- ed at M. Trotzky: "Kerensky !"
M. Trotzky: Kerensky did the vill of the bourgeoisie. I am doing the will of the workers.
M. Kamkoff: You lie! You are doing. the will of Mirbach. You and your gang are Russia's new hangen.

As far as Trotzky's protest concern- independent action by Red Guards is concerned they are acting under the in- pulse of a genuine revolutionary spirit." They refuse to witness the choking of dur Ukrainian comrades by German In- perialists."

3. Sverdluff again succeeded in restor-. ing order, and M Kamkoff concluded by saying that the Left would continue to fan the anti-German revolt in the Ukraine and Russia. He proposed the sending of a telegram to all the Russian detachments fighting on the borders of the Ukraine, likewise to the General 'Staff. of the revolutionary Ukrainian troops. urging them to keep up the fight and promising them aid in men and arma.
The Bolsheviks voted down the motions, whereupon all delegates of the Left ross and left the theatre, singing the "ater- nationale" and shouting: "Hurrah for the revolt in the Urkaine !" "Away with Mirbach! "Away with the death penalty!"

THE CARD PARTY
Mrs. S.-I have struck upon a brilliant idea. The men, I hear, are playing golf and tennis for War Bond Tickets. Hubby has quite a few chances already, so instead of the usual silver trinkets I have decided at all my card parties, anti the end of the year, to give War Bond tickets as prizes. Wouldn't it be lovely if one of my guests won the $25,00— and at this rate of exchange, too】 -
!
I think we might all do the same and Mrs. G.-Capital
we'd not have that nasty feeling of just wasting our money un trash, for half of every ve dollars pent on War Bond tickets goes to help the wounded.
