A Chinese was charged with stealing A quantity of metal from the Kowloon Docks
It was stated that the metal was found concealed in defendant's umbrella and shoes us he was leaving the docks.
Mr. Wood sentenced defendant to fourteen days hard labour.
THEFT OF TROWELS:
A Chinese was charged with stealing. six trowels and one chisel,
The property was stolen from, a sub- contractor, who was superintending the renovation of a house."

OPIUM "CASES.
A young Chinese "girl was charged with being in unlawful possession of one tael· of prepared opium,

The same man and his second wife are charged with being in unlawful possession of thirty-one taels of pre- pared opium, valued at $300.

STOLEN JEWELLERY.
A Chinese was charged, un remand, with stealing a quantity of jewellery from a house in Des Voeux Rond.
Complainant stated that he left his house to go to his shop, and in his absence a box containing jewellery, including a gold ring and gold and silver bangles, disappeared.
Defendant, who stated that he picked up the jewellery in the streets was sen- ten by Mr. J R. Wood to three months' hard labour?

ALLEGED THEFT OF IRON FROM- A DOCKYARD.
Five Chine were charged with being in unlawful possession of a quantity of iron, valued at $300, belonging to the Hongkong and Kowloon Dock Company. Mr. Faithfull, who appeared for one of the defendants, applied for a week's remand.
This was granted, bail being fixed at $600 each.

Mr. Wolfe remanded the case, fixing bail at $500 each.
GERMAN DYE IN COURT.
A Chinese was charged with being in unlawful possession of three tins of German dyes.

Defendant stated that be bought the dye from marine-hawker under the impression that it was yellow, but when be opened the tins he found the contents. were blue.
Inspector Bullivan stated that a shop. keeper reported to the Police that he had lost four tins of dyes. On Sunday a broker came to complainant's shop and offered three tins of dyes for sale, which, on examination, proved to be the "iden tical tina stole. The broker was ques tioned and gave the name of another Chinese who; he said, had given the tins to him. Enquiries were made, the man was arrested, and be, in turn, charged defendant, who was subsequently arrested, Mr. Wood red andod the case, fixing bail at $50.
