The Attorney-General, in opening the case for the prosecution, said the meu were all Javanese seamen and were living in two boarding houses, adjacent to No 2 Police Station. Fun Lara, alias Kai Ka Lan, was in dicted for the murder of Lai Mai, at 43, Yee Wo Street, on March 30th.
It will be remembered that one man has already been sentenced to death by the Chief Justice in connection with the Bame-murder.
Mr. E. C. Jenkin, C.B.E., prosecuted on behalf of the Attorney-General, and Mr. C. G. Alabaster, O.B.E, (instructed by Mr. F. X. Almada), defended.
