The scope and method of the newly- formed Government Commercial Intelli Bence Department was explained to Liverpool commercial men recently by Bir Arthur Steel Maitland, Director of the organisation. Government support would he said, be given to any opening in a foreign country which it could ha legitimately used to develop. In the future he hoped attaches would be known as counsellors and would have a better paid and better-equipped service, with higher rank and status, because our ST.
