Local and non-local stora siguale oodas will be introduced at Hongkong on wuly 1st, in place of the old Local Code, and the China Cosai Code
The principal change in the Looal Code in that the new signals will show the direction from which the gals-is expected, whereas the old signale showed the post- tion of the typhoon. The latter-will be indicated, as beratofors, by the non-local siguals. The new. Local Code:ía- given below:

Owing however, to the uncertain movementa në typhoons and to insuficient telegraphie observations, it will occasionally happen
that signal to 5 may be displaye without a gale occurring at Hongkong, or even Gap Eock, but the reverse is no likely to happen, except in the case of typhoons forming in the vicinity and travelling rapidly towards Hongkong, or of a located typhoon increasing ita rate of progression abnormally.
Signal No. 1 is intended as a warning. to Stand By and watch for the nat signal.
