Small junk not seen over to the last Shore. I did not know any thing of an attack or robbery ... About 5 o'clock, two Chinese came on board the ship and reported that the small junk had been robbed by the prisoners about the evening. Their boat was next to the shore at Kowloon, and the master sent his boat and brought the men who were in her alongside the ship. They recognized the prisoners to be the men who were in the Romanjin the day before, they were afterward delivered over to the police. I do not know why the men of the junk did not follow the boat. But I imagine they were afraid of being squeezed.

The Romanju was seized as she was going away from Kowloon to the town. I imagined that the men of the junk belonged to Aqui of the episen farm. I do not know whether any of the stolen property was found. I saw Chaing searching the prisoners' boat. The broker told me that the junk had been robbed of three pistols, a piece of crape, and some clothing, he did not state the amount of loss.

Signed, Luis Benetto

Chaing beze sworn states. Frame-Thursday I was on board the Romanjee by the broken here, and paid for one chest of Malve. It was taken on board the junk, and I was told to go to the opposite shore in the junk. I engaged another boat to be sent to me, and promised to send it back. As I was under weigh, the prisoners' boat chased me and boarded my junk when I got to the opposite shore. They robbed me of 12 covids of crape, 10 pieces of clothing, 3 cloth pockets, 3 pistols, 3 pairs of shoes, and one large basket, all valued about fifteen dollars.

(The witness being a Ho Man, Mr. Caldwell finds difficulty in understanding him, and Leong Ashow is called to interpret.)

The property was taken from the junk by the prisoners on shore, and we were followed by the prisoners on shore. I precognize the prisoners to be Ayping and La Achuhe eile Fook.
