WHAT IS THE FUND DOING ? |
The Court was composed of Commander Beckwith (President), Lieut. Commander F. E. Nuttall (HMS. Taganr), Capt, Bell Smith (5.8. Hoia), - Capt. P. H. Roll (Marine Superintendente Indo- Chinn Steam Navigation Co.), and Mr. D. MoMurray (Superintending Engineer of the Indo-China Steam Navigation Co.).
The judgment was as follows:
In this caec a number of charges have been brought by the Master against the Chief Engineer, extending over a period of two months. Certain of these charges are of a trifing nature and in the opinion of this Court should never have been formulated. We therefore propose to deal only with the principal charges as follows:-On March the 6th when at

WHAT MORE IS REQUIRED TO BE DONE?
It is desired to bring under its benefits the large number of men in the outlying forts, as well as the other men stationed
in Victoria and the Navy.

The sincere thanks of the Club are

The Muster states in his evidence that he gave the Chief Engineer orders on the 9th of April for certain reasons not to make any test with the drinking water publicly. Here there is a conflict of evidence. Mr. Stokes states that no such orders were ever given to him, and that he had no idea there was any trouble connected with the drinking water until the 11th of April, when he was heavily logged. No evidence has be a produced to prove that such order was ever given to the Chief Engineer, and as most of the Master's orders to the Engine Room, appear to have been given in writing this is particularly noticeable. Also Dr. Aroulli in his evidence states It is hardly necessary to add how that during the three days, Le., 9th, 10th | highly any help given will be appreciated and 11th April the Chief Engineer by all concerned.

The latter. pair put up a very good fight, but they were never the equal of Mr. and Mrs. Nisbet, and Cooper Hunt was often out of position. As a consequence, and good as Mrs. Armstrong played, the match was always in favour of Mr. and Mrs Nisbet, whose understanding was rarely at fault, and then not in a glaring manner. The contest resulted in an easy wip for Mr and Mrs. Nisbet, 6-4, 6-3.
