Once again I would ask all parents to Ernst us in this matter and advise their children to join, whenever possible, the games organised for them. Moreover, we are handicapped by not finding any other school ready to accept a chalige either in tennis, croquet, or volley ball, so that a great deal of the zeal for playing up will dies natural death in having in sufficient outlet. One of the chief hind- races, however, lies in the distance of our playground from the school. It is pot really far off, only half-an-hour away, but just far enough to take the edge out of desire when otherwise the spirit would ofter move our boarders anil others to
turn out and have a good game on the spot. Would that the day might soon arrivo when premises and playground were adjoining one another. I do not consider this too high an ideal to aim at seeing how important any form of good sport is in the life of a growing child, but certainly no one would think so who had ever had to live or teach in this house, where the hoises of Caine Road become increasingly more distracting and wearing. Not a few of the staff have in the past suffered severely under the strain. So, when new premises offer in a new and tempting position, I shall once again look for the loyal support of parents in making a move forthwith.
"The past year's school work has been much handicapped through furloughs falling due, and through sickness among the members of the staff. But in spite of a shortage of workers, we have. 1 believe, been able to maintain the work up to the same average of efficiency. We haro, indeed missed the strong and help ful influence of Miss Middleton Smith both in the house and in the school, but even furloughs have an end, so we are hoping to see her back again by September to help us start the new year's work. In the meanwhile we have been greatly favoured by the residence of Mise Sells in our midst, which has in no little measure lessened the burden of the responsibilitice which we feel towards our boarders and has greatly added to their happiness.
