E. will probably find their defence taxed to the utmost to prevent goals. The last meeting of these teams 1. produced a draw, each side scoring three gouls, the Shropshires equalising in the last few minutes of play.

The funeral of the late Mr. A. M. White took place at Pah-bsion-joo Cemetery Shanghai on December 18th in the presence of his immediate relations and a large gathering of sympathizing friends, which included representatives of the Exchange Banks, the Exchange P. Brokers Association, the Stock Exchange,
the Sharebrokers' Association, and of the Clubs, and business hongs, both British and foreign, with which he had been associated, as well as numerous personal friends. The esteem in which Mr. White was held by all members of the com munity was also shown by the profusion of wreaths, which not only covered the coffin, but lined the aisle of the mortuary chapel and the paths of the cemetery
