HONGKONG MAGISTRACY,

OPIUM POSSESSION.

Mr. Hazeland had two cases of opium possession before him yesterday, and in each instance the drug was skilfully con cealed. In one case Revenue Ocer Wildin afd theman was found on the as. Tai Lec sitting on a deck chair, in the arms of which 3 lbs. of raw opium were found. A fine of $350 was imposed. In the other case, the opium, amounting to a taela, was concealed in a false-bottomed basket. The fine was $700, or, in default, six months' hard labour.

ALLEGED OPIUM SMUGGLING.

Mr. Hazeland had before him yester- day afternoon a Chinese charged with larceny, as a baile, of 3300, the property of Lo Wing-po, and with obtaining, by. falso pretencos, a sum of $120 from Ho Kaw. Mr. D'Almads conducted the pro- secution.
