THE YM.C.A. BUILDING- FUND.
MR. STEPHENS' VIEWS.
THE RED CROSS SOCIETY FAVOURED.
The feeling in the Colony appears to be growing apace that it certainly in sof right at the present time to collect money for a Y.M.C.A. building. There is, generally speaking, no opposition to the Y.M.C.A., which, it is recognised, has done, and is still doing, splendid
work in all parts of the world. The sense of oxasperation--for it would not be right to use a milder term-which has been aroused is das to the fact that money, which apparently can be spared, is being devoted which is not in any way connected with the war
Yesterday there was a rumour that Mr. M. J. D. Stephens had withdrawn his offer of 835,000, and a representative of

It simply states briefly my views on the subject

concern since our recent interview.
Not at all being desirous of withdraw ing my support in the sum named to an object in which I can be interested, still I consider at the present time when there is such need to meet the cases of our maimed soldiers who can no longer enjoy

There are other more urgent needs seduced into promoting suck a project to which this large sum of money could
