SRAMIEN, March 28th.. PORTUGUESE OF SHAMEEN ON THE WAR PATH. Arising out of the wholesale arrest, im- prisonment and deparation of prominent. Portuguese residents of Shanghai by the Portugues Consul-General of the northern settlemons, the Portaguise Colony of Sun- meen hd an indignation meeting vester-B day afternoon in the ground of the Por- tugumo Teunis Club. Mt. Ignaco Pires, Pereira, optuagenarian and a highly re spected member of the local Portuguese. Colong, was unanimously asked to provide. and, in addressing the meeting, he spoke in very strong terns of the arbitrary, illegal and despo, neticus of Consul-General. Earjona de Freitas-actions which ho described as a violat on of the liberty of the subject calling for the energetic protest from the Portuguese of Maeso, Hongkong and Canton. Mr. Pereira was followed by My Nunes and Mr. Xavier, both of whom Ou the made very spirited addresses, motion of Mr. Kunes, the menting unani mously approved of the despatch of the fol lowing cable to Mugno:-
