In the course of a brief address, Dr. Landor said that the Bible suited all races. of the world. "They may also have observed the wonderful help which the Bible had bean to the men who were fighting their battles. He referred to the words of the late Lord Roberts when he urged the men who were fighting to look for spiritual help from the Bible, and went on to say that the Bible was, and could be, a great peace-maker. In all their hearts he said, there was an intenso longing for peace. They did not want an unrighteous peace, or a pesce that would be only temporary; funt he wished to say that there must be, in every heart, an intense longing for peace,
and that, when a peace, a permanent pence, camo, it must be based upon the lines laid down by the Bible. The Bishop wont on to say that that intense desire for pence must be in every heart alike, and added that even in Germany the Society had many supporters and they found the last year the Kaiser himself subscribed £25 to the funds of the Society; though that may not be any great recommendation for the

The Rev. D. W. Lyon made a strong. appeal on behalf of the Society. He point ed out the extensive work which was per- formed by it, and the many volumes and many tongues in which the Bible was pub jished by the Society with the direct object of spreading the Word. The Society was commenced in troublous times, and it had grasped the present opportunity for ex pansion.
