Surveyor General's Office,
Victoria, 6th October, 1848.
With reference to Mr. Stephenson's application for a lot of land near West Point, at Navy Bay, I have the honor to inform you:
that the proposed lot has been marked off on the ground, the East and West boundaries being the present water-courses, on the North by the sea at high water mark, and containing 2 acres nearly. According to the Schedule of assessment for Land, there would be 20,993 feet at £85 per 1,025, £161 = 17.04% for Marine portion; and as the remainder of the ground would range between £40 and £20 rates per quarter acre of 1,025 feet, I propose to take the average for that quantity, viz. £30 per quarter acre.
Honble. Major W. Caine,
Colonial Secretary.
