A SHAUKIWAN CRIME.

YOUTHFUL CHINESE CHARGED WITH MURDER.

A second murder charge was heard by the Chief Justice at the Criminal Sessions yesterday when a youthful Chinese, named a mere boy. Hon Ma Yan, apparently was indicted on a charge of murdering a Chinese woman named Teang Kiu at Shaukiwani on September 4th.

The jury was composed of the follow- ing:-Messrs. H. Fath (forenas), E. M. Sadick, L. S. Greenbill, A. F. Guillet, U. Rumjahi, T. Young, and P. J. Taylor.

But if the share of the training which falls to the foreign instructors is a large one, that which falls to the native officers is not legs worthy of appreciation, for daey are imbued with the same spirit and energy which their chief, General Munthe, has managed to instil inte all those who approach him. the accused could never have been in either of the two houses for the simple reason that he could not have got in. But there was no doub: that he did get there. Again, the eagerness of the Crown witnesses to stop the accused's defence and to bring the case home to him had been revealed in another direction. That was on the question of blood. The evidence
