Gain Healthy Flesh-Increase Your Weight from Ten To Thirty Pounds-By Taking Sargol.

Thin Men and Women say "I'd give most anything to put on a little flesh and weight," but when a friend suggests a way they declare: "Not a chance. I've tried everything and am doomed to stay thin. I'm built that way.'

19

Being "built to stay thin means only that your digestive tract is so disarranged that it doesn't properly prepare the fat producing elements of your food for assimilation by your blood. Or, it may mean that your blood itself lacks the red corpuscle-the carrying power to properly absorb these desh-producing ingredients,

In either event the major portion of your needed, normal nourishment goes to waste. It isn't food that makes folks fat: It's what the blood absorbs from the food- the sugars, starches, albuminoids of what you eat. If your body absorbed all the fat making material you eat you would plump up to proper portions very quickly.

You can quickly stop this waste by eating SARGOL with your meals and by stopping it you can easily, rapidly and safely gain from ten to thirty pounds of solid, health weight. They come 40 tablets to a package, are pleasant, harmless and inexpensive. A. S. WATSON & Co., LTD., THE VICTORIA DISPENSARY, THE PHARMACY, QUEEN'S DISPENSARY, THE EDWARD DISPENSARY, and all other first-class Chemists in Hongkong have it in stock.

*COME OUT AND FIGHT"

CHALLENGE BY MARCONISRAM D'ECLINED.

Mr. Donohoe, the Daily Chronicle's corres pondent in Italy, describes how a powerful squadron, composed of some of the findet ships of our Ally's feet, at daylight appeared off the Dalmatian littoral. Some of tho enemy's cruiser' scouts und destroyers wor sighted, but these at once scuttled into shelter behind the guns and mines of frowning Fola.

The main body of the Austrian fleet, includ ing some of their most powerful ships, are sheltering there. In vain the Italians threw down the gage of battle--no Austrian navel knighould deign to piek it

up.

"COME OUT AND FIGHT!

WE ARE WAITING FOR YOU!" signalled King Victor's fleet by Marconigram; but taunt and jibe were equally unavailing The Austrian admiral-who, after all, has historic precedcat in the discreet valour of the German High: Sesa Fleet at Kiel-pre ferred to lie low and keep his guns silent.

COST OF EIGHT MONTHS WAR.. NATIONAL DEBTS INCREASED BY £2,220,000,000

Dr. Elemer Hantos, a Hungarian Deputy and financial authority, has compiled statis- tick showing the total national debts of the belligerent countries on August 1st last year, and the aggregate to which it had risen on March 31st of this year.

Austria added £140,000,000 to her provions debt of £542,000,000 and Hungary added £80,000,000 to a previous £279,000,000. Thus the Dual Monarchy increased its State liabi lities by £234,000,000,

Germany's national debt at the beginning of the war was £1,284,000,000, and had in creased by £79,000,000 at the end of March. These figures do not include the issue at that part of which went to increase the national time of a loan of nine milliard marks, only debt. Turkey increased her total debt from 2121,000,000 to $143,000,000.

England's national debt at the beginning of the war, exclusive of the debts of the British Colonies, amounted to £732,000, and this was increased by £430,000,000 the

by end of March.

France had a national debt of £1,250,000,000, which increased by £440,000,000. Russia increased her debt vi £955,000,000 by £550,000,000. The national debts of Belgium increased. £40,000,000, of Servis £17,000,000 of Japan £30,000,000, and of Montenegro £125,000.

The national debts of the central Powers, with Turkey, show a total increase, from Angust to March inclusive, of £731,000,000 as compared with the Entente countries and their allies, or £1,020,000,000. Thus the aggregate national debts of all the belligerent States have increased £2,200,000,000.

Au amusing little incident was told to me to-day by the officer commanding a clearing hospital which is now being used as a con valescent hospital. His hospital is housed i in a Cistercian monastery, the monks of which have, for the most part, remained behind, although only one wing and the chapel have been retained for their use. This wing was, by arrangement, walled off from the rest of the building by wooden partitions, but, after one severe engagement a few weeks ago, these. partitions were taken down and further encroachments made upon the monks privacy.
