They are engaged in compiling standard works of reference descriptive of the Dominions. A handsome volame on New Zealand has already been published, and the work on Southern India is expected to be ready for publication towards the end of the current year. Mr Playne is now commencing the compilation of a volume on Bengal and Assam,
