Gov. Bonham Chief Justice Refers to his
Despatch No13 April 22.
Does not concur with the Chief Justice, in regard to The Vacations, represents the inconvenience arising from the present arrangements of the Sessions, of the different Courts which admits of a period of four Months, during which the whole of the Courts are closed, Prisoners are confined for that time, and afterwards acquitted in consequence Witnesses quitting the Colony, the ends of justice being defeated.

Encloses Memorial from the Auctioneers praying for Remission of the duty of the 1/2 Cent exacted on their Sales The Duty produces about £300 or £400 per year
proposes abolishing this duty and increasing the Licences to 100 ~ 150 Dollars per year instead of 50 Dollars as at present.

Encloses applications from several Individuals, to be allowed to surrender certain Lands which they held, to Government
Encloses the opinion of The Attorney General and recommends the resumption of the Lands in question.
Encloses Application from Mr Johnston for a Lease of the ground on which he was, in 1842, allowed to build a House, subject to conditions, encloses also correspondence on the subject with the Military Authorities.
Recommends the claim.
