EDUCATION-Stendy progress has been made in the work of each class. In several cases there has been marked and rapid advance. The results of the Oxford Local Examinations, held in July, have quite sur passed anything ire have nchioved before: Of twenty-six candidates who sat for the ex- amination, twenty-three passed In the Senior Division thres out of four pussed, two securing Distinction in Chinese. In the Junior Division nine passed out of eleven. Of these, all three candidates who were eligible for Honours obtained Third Class Honours, while four Distinctions in Chinese. and one in Religious Knowledge wero also secured. In the Preliminary Divisipä, eleven passed, none failing. Special mention should be made of the Distinction in Religi ous Knowledge. Early in the year an old hoy of this College who, with commendable modesty wishes to remain anonymous, offerel a prize of 850 to any student in the College who should secure a Distinction in Religious Knowledge in the forthcoming Oxford Exami nations.
