My Lord,

5th Feby The Earl Grey

Lords &c

296

June 21st 1849 -

I have the honor to submit a humble request that Your Lordship would be pleased to order me some allowance to cover the expenses incurred

by my overland passage to this country.

On my appointment to the place I have the honor to hold, I was informed that as my Salary exceeded £400 a year, I was not by the Colonial Regulations

entitled to have my passage out paid, but that I should be allowed half salary from the date of my leaving England.

Since my Arrival, my application for half salary for 2 months has been refused

on the grounds that I have received the full salary to the date of my

Arrival
