H. HARBOUR MASTER £48, 7s. 3d. increase in 1849, in consequence of the Salary of the Clerk having been raised on 1st October 1847, from £150 to £200, &c., &c. I. JUDICIAL £918, 17s. d. decrease in 1849, being,- £346 13 3 under Salaries, viz -£317, 10s. Salary paid in 1847 to the Interpreter, whose duty is now performed by the Assistant Superintendent of Police: £240, 9s. 9d., being Arrears of the Attorney General's Salary of 1846, paid in 1847, making a decrease of £557, 19s. 9d. on Salaries, from which however the following have to be deducted, viz :-£62, 10s. for the Salary of a Chinese Clerk and Shroff, put on the Establishment in August 1848; £22, 18s. 4d. the pay of a Watchman commencing on 1st December 1847, at £25 per annum; increase of 18s. 2d. on the Salary of the Hindustani Interpreter ; and £125, the Salary of the Acting Chief Justice, for December 1847, caused by the Suspension of the Chief Justice. a decrease under Administration of Justice, being for Criminal Crown Prosecutions. £111 0 0 Special Expenses, &c. 17 82 1 8 of Rent for a Court House. 22 4 1 6 Contingencies. Charitable Allowance (the person to whom such was granted having left the Colony); £437, 4s. 10d. decrease on Police and Gaols, (the reduction on cost for Provisions being £438 in 1849 as compared with 1847, caused by the reduction of the European Police Force, and more favourable Contracts); £11 decrease on Rent for Police Stations; 4552, 1s. 9d. reduction on Conveyance of Convicts; £22, 6s. 2d. decrease under the head of Hospital and Special Expenses.
