THE MALARIA DEATH RATE,
Statistics prove that Malaria kille more people every year in the hot countries of the East than any other disease, an appalling fact when one considers that most of those deaths were preventable.
Not so many years ago Betoace was still groping in the dark as to the cause of Malaria, and knew of but one palliative and of no cure.
But now it is positively known that the cause lice in the blood in the form of bacteria, and thousands of sufferers have proved that Dr. Williams Pink Pills are a positive remedy.
The reason why Dr. Williams' Pink Pills cure Malaria is because they act directly and immediately upon the blood, cleansing it of the malarial poison, and restoring to it an abundance of red corpuscles in place of those destroyed by the malarial germs.
A course of Dr. Williams Pink Pills will do for you what they have done for athers. Obtainable, of medicino vendors everywhere, also direct from the Dr. Williams Medicine Co., 84, Szechuen Road, Shanghai, one bottle for $1.850, six for $8 post free.

Life in an Indian Outpost, Be Major
GORDON CABBERLY, Illustrated. London: T. Werner Laurie, Ltd.
Major Casserly Casserly of the 120th Rajputana Infantryho is well-known in Hongkong and China Coast Ports, has written another most entertaining book, Indeed, it is some time since we havo rend one which so gripped the interest at the outset and hold it to the end. It deals with soldiering on the Indian frontier, big-gamo shooting, adventures of 10 ordinary kind on the hills and in the jungle, and gives glimpses of life generally in India, with comparisons from and incidents. in other parts of the world, which show that Major Casserly is observant for impressions and blessed with a memory for retaining them. For instance, nothing could be more delightful than his recollections of his visit to the United States and Manila and his treatment at the hands of officers of the U.S. Army, and it is a pleasure that officers in that army have equally agreeable recollections of their entertain- ment by officers of the British and Indins armios, in Hongkong, India and elsewhere. From eut mutual experiences such as Major Casserly recalls ar se those gonerous feelings And mutual respect which go farther to kindle international amity than roams of treatios and written agreements.

With a double company of the Rajputs, Major Casserly was posted to Buxa Duar, a little fort standing on the frontier of Bhutan. It commands a pass through the Himalayas into the fertile fields of Eastern Bengal, a pass that has run with blood "In all my many a time in the past. wanderings," writes Major Casserly, Í have seldom seen a lovelier spot than this lonely outpost.
