DIET IN DYSENTERY.

The danger dysentery involves is too well known to nced dwelling on s

While ipecacuanba is the drug dootors rely on in the disease, no one should prescribe for himself when he can get medical aid,

It is imperative, however, that the strength should be maintained during the attuck so that the sufferer may overcome the discaso and that convalescence may be hastened after the acute stage, is over For these purposes, Saustogen takes the Erst place, for distinguished physician "Sanat writes ogen easily holds the field against any dietetis preparation I have ever tried,

KOW A BISHOP WAS CURED, Sanatogen's power is strikingly attested by the statement of the R. Roy, the Bishop of Irina, who writes Senatogen has cured me of an obstinate dysentery from which I suffered for a long time, having found all druge powerless against it -perhaps because I cannot stick to a milk diet. Sanatogen has cured me even with out using milk."

Even more striking, because given in greater detail, is the following case, reported by the physician in attendance. Ho writes:.. had been suffering from dysentery for about three months when I first saw her. She was so iceble that all hope of her recovery had been lost. aud Seeing her greatly maciated eniccbled condition, 1 stopped all the medicines which had been prescribed for her and started with Sanatogen. After about a month of the Banatogen, she easily took food milk, rice and other light articles of diet. She had only about two or three motions daily, and there was no blood. The offensive adour was also gone. After she was able to walk, she felt off my treatment, and, therefore, Banat ogen also. After about fiteen days I was again called, because her condition was bad. owing to neglect and earelessness in diet Again Sanatogen was and medicine. prescribed, and again she improved rapidly and was as healthy as ever in about twenty-five days."

HOW TO PREVENT DYSENTERYEA It must always be remembered, as Drs. Castellani and Chalmers point but in their "Manual of Tropical Medicine," that the germs of dysentery can live in the body without causing the symptoms of the disease until the vitality is lowered by some agency as a chill, an attack of diarrhea, etc., when they are capable of producing their ill-effects,

SINGAPORE'S WET DOCK

NEW ERA IN THE HISTORY OF THE PORT

THE HONGKONG DAILY PRESS FRIDAY, JUNE 12TH, 1014.

AN INFORMAL OPENING CEREMONY Singapore, with its magnificent harbour and its ample and continually growing shipping, has, for many years past, felt the need of further dock accommodation, One fine dry dock has succeeded another and many improvements have been effected in the matter of wharfage. In the year 1806- the graving dock was forinally opened by H.E. Sir Harry Ord, who christened it the Victoria Dock, and in 1879 the Albert Dock was completed, while in 1890 the New Harbour Docks at Keppel Harbour were purchased by the Tanjong Pagar Dock Company and in- cluded two graving docks List August the King's Dock at Keppel Harbour was opened by the Governor, and in this con- nection it is significant to note that in its dimensions the dock has claimed atten- tion as a work of signal interest and importance. It was completed at a cost of over £400,000 and 3 the largest dre dock in the Far East. It is 870 feet In length by 128 feet in breadth, with su entrance width of 100 feet; it can, howe ever be divided by a central caisson into an ingor and outer portion which can then dock ships of E02 feet and 346 feet in length, respectively,

The great Lagoon dock, which is now ready for us and which marks a further era in the commercial history of the port, was commenced in January, 1903, the original contract having bean awarded to Messrs. John Aird & Co. in the previous October. Unfortunately, however, pro gress on the work was somewhat delayed and a disagreement between the contrac tors and the Government resulted in the termination of the contract in March, 1911, followed in October of 1912 by the commencement of litigation in the High Courts, Messrs Aird basing a heavy claim upon allegations respecting mis- representations by which they maintained they were induced to enter into an agree ment with the old Tanjong Pagar Dock Board and their agent. Mr. Justice Par ker, who has since been made a Lord Justice of Appeal, early in the case intimated that he was of opinion there was no question of fraud in the matter, and despite his efforts to secure a settle mout of the case litigation continued until February of last year when the parties came to terms. Meanwhile, the contract for the construction of the dock and the rebuilding of the main where via Tele This fact has so otherwise auceumb. impressed large numbers of residents in who commenced operations in June, 1911, China that they use Sanatogen daily to and whose successful completion of the keep themselves at the highest pitch of King's Dock at Keppel Harbour was a nervous and physical efficiency matter of very favourable comment on the

For this reason, when the individual has been exposed to the slightest pos- gibility of contracting dysentery he should make a point of taking Sanatogen By nourishing his general health and bring ing his nervous system to its highest point to withstand an attack to which he might of efficiency, Sanatogen will enable
