It was pointed out that the stresses which come upon a ship owing to the inequality of weight and support appear to be greatest when the wave is about the length of the ship. The differences between the stresses in this condition and those in emboth water vary a great deal is different ships according to the load- ing. In sea the conditions are different Iu ocean-going steamers, on account of the load whior actually exists in them, the stress when the ship is on the crest

she is in the hollow. For instance, in the case of ship 830ft. long the maximum stress on the crest of the wave may be as high as 113 tons, while in the hollow of the wave it may be as low as eight tons per square inch of the material. The corresponding stress in still water in such ships would not be more than two or three! tons.
DESIGN OF THE BIO BHIP,
With regard to the amount of material: which must be provided to enable a ship to resist the stresses upon it the practice in to nesumne a wave about the length of the ship and one-twentieth of the length in height. For a ship of the dimensions of the Imperator this would mean a wave, say, 900ft. long and 45ft, high. A 50016 ship wave would be 25ft. high. It is obvious that the 900ft, Imperator and a 500ft, ship breasting the same ocean would meet the same peas. A wave 600ft. long

However, all this is changed now, thanks to the fact that in my newspaper one day I came

I decided to give these Pills a thorough test, and within ■ few days was indeed pleased to find that they were doing wo good. Before long I felt new life and energy permeating my whole system, my nerves worn braced up, the pain and flatulence ceased altogether, my sleep was sound and restful, arose in the mornings feeling cheerful and buoyant ready for a real hard day's work
To these suffering from breakdown in health owing to the anturs of their work, and especially to those aifisted with nervous debility, the happy change in my own health brought about by Dr. Williams Pink Pills enables me to strongly recommend this wonderful remedy."
