POST OFFICE NOTICE. CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAIS PARCEL MAIL
The Pabllo are informed that the Christmas Parcel Mail to the United Kingdom and Countries beyond will be closed in this Office at 5 p.m. on the 7th November. This Parosi Mail by the long set route via Gibraltar is due to reach London on the 13th December. The following all of the 21st November will be treated as the New Year Mail, and is due to rach London on the 27th December. Parcels may be forwarded via Brindisi with an extra fee of 50 cents, and with this mail are due in London on the 20th December.
Parcels containing Gold or Silver must be insured for at least part of their value. All insured Parcos must is sealed. All the seale must be of the same coloured war, and must bear the impression of a private device. This device must be the same on each seal. Straight, curved, Grogged or dotted lines are not admissible. Buttons, Coisa and Thimbles cannot be used for sealing.
The Clerks of the Post Office are forbidden to affix stamps on letters or parcels or to seal suy article for the public. Parcels that in the opinion of the officer handling the same do not comply with the regulations will not to accepted.
It is requested that Parcels be posted early.
With reference to paragraph 6 of the Hongkong Postal Guide, on and after the 1st prox. all local letters whose delivery is unavoidably held over or retarded owing to the arrival of a contract packet or Siberian mail will be marked Delivery postponed." In no case will more than one local delivery be held over or retarded on these grounds.
