A few drops of this reliably antiseptic and delightfully refreshing preparation mixed with a tumbler of luke-warm water make an emulsion which will thoroughly cleanse and purify the entire oral cavity, penetrating all cracks and crevices in and between the teeth, permeating the gums and lining membrane, and exering its marvellous protective powers, not only during the few moments while being used, but for hours after.

IS THE BRITISH, NATION WEALTHY?
in
Mr. Ellia Barker in the August Partnightly Revier discusses the ques- tion whether the British nation is a wealthy nation. Our Singapore contem porary, the Free Press, summarises and comments on the article as follows:- It is frequently asserted that Britain is the woalthiest nation in the world. Mr. Lloyd George, with a poaching and that hen-roost intelligence. declares Do you Gdolise ?

England is the place to which thousanda of well-to-do-men who have spent their lives either in the Dominions or foreign countries retiro, drawing the interest of their oversea investments as anasal revenue. If harassed by taxation these men have only to retire to France or Italy, or returu to the Dominions, and all that revenue vanishes beyond reach of taxation. The real wealth of a coun- try can only be that which is concentrated A within its frontiers, not abroad. number of rich men do not constitute a nation, for no Budget can imprison these riel, men as subject to its impositions. The writer's contention is just when he declares that whether a nation is pros- perous or poor may be seen not by the con:litions of the wealthy few, but by the conditions of the masses of the people. These, it has to be remembered, are fixed to localities and local industries, and can only escape from local conditions by emigration. Applying this test Mr. Ellis Barker declares that the British nation is not the richest nation in the world, but! a very poor nation, for the British masses The late Sir Henry дга very poor.
