of Piracy

or Combination

by

Artisans

or Workmen, whereby any

Artisan

or Workman shall be

forced

to leave his employ, or prevented

from

joining or assisting

any

other

Artisan

or

Workman

at his

work,

3. – And be it further enacted

and ordained, That such chief or deputed Chief Magistrate,

singly

or in

conjunction

with one

of the Peace,

or Justices of the

Peace,

shall have power and authority

to award

on

due Conviction, for any

of the offences

or Crimes

above

Specified, Imprisonment in

Her Majesty's Jail

within the Colony for

a period not exceeding

Five Calendar months and with or

without Hard Labour,

and

Fine not exceeding

Fifty Dollars.

4. – And be it further provided, that

when

any

Male offender shall

be Convicted of Larceny, Embezzlement,

or of

uttering or attempting to alter Counterfeit Coin as

aforesaid, it shall be lawful for such Chief or acting Chief Magistrate

at his discretion, to award Imprisonment for any period not exceeding

six months, with or without Hard Labour;

Fine not exceeding

Fifty Dollars; or Whipping

Directions as to

Corporal Punishment.

and be it further enacted

and ordained, That whenever

under this

or

any other Ordinance, such Punishment shall be inflicted - previous

Corporal Punishment shall not at any

single time, exceed Thirty

Blows with a Rattan, to be

inflicted

in the presence of

the

Principal Jailer,

or other

proper

Person deputed for the

purpose by a Magistrate.

5. – And be it further

enacted and ordained, that

on the Conviction

of any

person for

Assault and Battery, it shall

be lawful for such

Chief Magistrate, or acting Chief Magistrate,

at his

discretion, to award Reasonable
