THE HONGKONG DAILY PRESS, SATURDAY, MARCH 2915, 1918.

At the statutory meeting of the share. holders of the Rubber Curing: Patents Syndicate, Limited, held on the 4th inst. į at the Cannon-street Hotel, London. Mr. L. B. Peters, the chairman, had some very interesting news to impart as to the Progress made in connection with the of curing enrapany's patent process plantation rubber. Mr. E. A. Byrne onlys arrived in the Malay States at the end of last year, and hastened to put the board in possession of sufficient evidence to con- firm what Mr. E. J. Byrne had achieved a year age in regard to the Byrne process, Mr. F. A. Byrne within a few days of arriving on a rubber estate set the Byrue patent process to work, and, having cured a case of rubber, immediately sent it forward by first steamer.

The history of this rabber was as fol bowe: It ens tapped and crêped on January 8, cured by the Byrne patent process on January 9, and packed and shipped on the 10th. It arrived in Lon don on February 2, and, on being opened, was found to be in perfect condition, and was pronounced by an eminent firm of rubber brokers to be in appearance equal to any first quality crêpe. Ou examins- tion for moisture by Messrs. Clayton,. Bendle, and Stevens, it was found to contain only por cent, moisture, which is quite normal.
